01Project context

Overview

Ethernovia is a fabless semiconductor technology startup developing advanced networking connectivity solutions for automotive systems, robotics, and physical AI.

The company is developing a technology demonstration involving multiple articulated robotic arms to showcase its high-performance networking products in a real-world robotics application.

The arms are intended to be constructed using a combination of off-the-shelf hardware and custom 3D-printed components.

The system will integrate cameras, sensors, actuators, and other electronic components through Ethernovia's networking infrastructure.

A centralized NVIDIA Blackwell-based AI computing platform will process sensor data, support intelligent decision-making, and coordinate robotic manipulation.

The goal is to demonstrate multiple robotic arms working cooperatively to identify, grasp, lift, and transfer physical objects.

Planned development: these statements describe the intended system, not completed functionality.

02System purpose

Engineering Objective

Integrating high-performance semiconductor networking, NVIDIA AI computing, and articulated robotics into a coordinated physical intelligence demonstration.

The engineering objective is to connect perception, computation, and physical action in one planned demonstration. Networking is the connecting infrastructure between the distributed hardware and centralized AI processing, rather than an incidental feature of the robotic arms.

Proposed System Architecture

Planned

Proposed engineering architecture. This system is not operational. Arrows show the planned direction of data and control. Select a layer to inspect its intended scope.

Sensors & Cameras

Planned articulated robotic-arm assemblies combine sensing, actuation, off-the-shelf hardware, and custom 3D-printed components.

  • Articulated robotic arms
  • Joint, wrist, and finger actuators
  • High-resolution cameras
  • Environmental and positional sensors
  • Off-the-shelf mechanical components
  • Custom 3D-printed assemblies

Component choices and assembly requirements will be defined collaboratively during development.

03Physical hardware

Mechanical Architecture

The articulated robotic arms are intended to use a combination of off-the-shelf mechanical components and custom 3D-printed assemblies. Joint, wrist, and finger actuation will support the intended manipulation workflow.

  • Define mechanical and functional requirements with the engineering team.
  • Develop and assemble the planned robotic-arm structures.
  • Integrate selected mechanical components and custom 3D-printed parts.
  • Evaluate individual arm behavior through iterative testing.

Arm assemblies, component choices, and their integration are development work, not completed hardware claims.

04Sensing and actuation

Electrical Systems

High-resolution cameras, environmental and positional sensors, actuators, and other electronic components are intended to connect through Ethernovia's networking infrastructure.

  • Camera and sensor integration for observing objects and the operating environment.
  • Joint, wrist, and finger actuators for the intended physical actions.
  • Collaborative definition of electrical and functional requirements.
  • Component integration and testing as part of the development initiative.

No finalized wiring design, electrical specification, or validated hardware configuration is asserted here.

05Connectivity infrastructure

High-Speed Networking

The planned demonstration showcases Ethernovia's networking products in a robotics application, aggregating information from cameras, sensors, audio, and actuators.

  • Ethernovia Ethernet switches
  • 10 Gbps transceivers
  • Multi-gigabit automotive Ethernet connectivity
  • 10BASE-T1S and 100/1000BASE-T1 devices
  • Aggregation of camera, sensor, audio, and actuator data

Interface capabilities describe the proposed networking elements. They are not measured end-to-end performance or proprietary semiconductor implementation details.

06Centralized intelligence

NVIDIA AI Computing

A centralized NVIDIA Blackwell-based computing platform is planned to process sensor data, support intelligent decision-making, and coordinate robotic manipulation within the CUDA software ecosystem.

  • NVIDIA Blackwell-based computing platform
  • CUDA software ecosystem
  • Up to 16 high-resolution live video streams as a design target

Up to 16 live high-resolution video streams is a design target, not an achieved result. NVIDIA Isaac GR00T-related model development is subject to the team's final architecture; no completed integration is claimed.

07Intended physical behavior

Multi-Arm Coordination

The intended demonstration involves multiple articulated arms working cooperatively to identify, grasp, lift, and transfer physical objects. The development initiative will need to connect individual-arm functionality with coordinated system behavior.

THE DEMONSTRATION

Intended workflow for the technology demonstration. These steps describe the goal, not an observed or completed run.

  1. 01

    Observe

Cameras and sensors observe a collection of objects.

  2. 02

    Transport

Data travels through Ethernovia's networking infrastructure.

  3. 03

    Interpret

Centralized AI processing interprets the observations.

  4. 04

    Select

The system selects appropriate robotic actions.

  5. 05

    Manipulate

Robotic arms manipulate and transfer objects.

  6. 06

    Coordinate

Multiple arms coordinate to complete the intended task.

The operating sequence below is planned. It is not a record of autonomous operation or a completed coordinated manipulation demonstration.

08Collaborative engineering

MY ROLE IN THE SYSTEM

As an engineering intern at Ethernovia, I will collaborate with the engineering team to define requirements, develop articulated robotic-arm assemblies, integrate relevant components, and test system functionality throughout the six-month development initiative.

01 / Expected responsibility

Requirements Engineering

Collaborating with the team to define mechanical, electrical, software, and functional requirements.

02 / Expected responsibility

Hardware Development

Helping develop and assemble robotic arms using off-the-shelf components and custom 3D-printed parts.

03 / Expected responsibility

Systems Integration

Participating in the integration of mechanical, electronic, networking, and computing components.

04 / Expected responsibility

Testing & Validation

Evaluating robotic functionality, investigating engineering problems, and supporting iterative testing.

These responsibilities are collaborative and prospective. They do not imply that I independently invented Ethernovia's networking chips, designed its semiconductor products, or completed the robotics platform.

09Six-month engineering initiative

10Questions to resolve

Technical Challenges

The following are engineering considerations for development, not a report of observed failures or solved problems.

  • Define compatible mechanical, electrical, software, and functional interfaces across the system.
  • Evaluate the integration of camera, sensor, audio, and actuator data through the proposed networking infrastructure.
  • Assess computing and perception behavior against the intended video-stream workload without assuming the design target has been achieved.
  • Connect individual-arm functionality to coordinated manipulation through iterative system testing.
  • Confirm the AI software approach, including any GR00T-related development, with the engineering team.
11Scope and evidence boundary

Future Applications

The immediate goal is a technology demonstration of high-performance networking in a real-world robotics application. Ethernovia's broader connectivity work spans automotive systems, robotics, and physical AI; any use beyond the intended demonstration would require further engineering and validation.

  • No completed robotic-arm platform or autonomous operation is claimed.
  • The platform is not claimed to have processed 16 live video streams.
  • Coordinated manipulation remains an intended demonstration, not a demonstrated result.
  • No future NVIDIA GTC demonstration is confirmed.
  • No industrial deployment or commercial partnership is claimed.

Only the supplied high-level project description is presented here. No internal semiconductor designs, proprietary documents, or confidential implementation details are published.
